Robert “Bobby” Baxter

Coach Bobby Baxter is a native of Baltimore, MD who has made a steady progression through the coaching ranks since starting his softball coaching career in 2009.

He began by working with travel-select ages 12U A to 18U A Showcase programs such as the Maryland Chill, Catonsville Chaos and Western Howard County Fever before quickly moving on to coach at several Maryland high schools including North County, Centennial, Atholton, and Howard.

In 2015, Baxter became an assistant coach at CCBC Catonsville working with head coach Chuck Slater. The team was nationally ranked during each of the four years Baxter was with the NJCAA Division II Women’s Softball program winning a conference championship in 2018. In 2019, Baxter was a member of the staff that earned recognition as National Fastpitch Coaches Association Regional Coaching Staff of the Year, East Region NJCAA Division II.

After the Covid-19 year, UMBC Head Coach Chris Kuhlmeyer invited Baxter to join his staff where he focused on team fundamentals in hitting and fielding seeing noticeable improvements in each while helping guide the Retrievers to back-to-back America East championships and consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in the school’s history.

Through his work with travel and high school teams, Coach Baxter has helped his student-athletes move on to compete for several colleges and universities including McDaniel, Stevenson, Hood, Frostburg, Mount St. Mary’s, Louisburg College (NC), University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Towson, Salisbury, Morgan State, Bowie State and UMBC.

Having seen Coach Baxter working with his players when UMBC faced the University of Maryland, Coach Garris recognized that his approach and winning attitude fit well with the goals and approach embodied by the Pinnacle Performance Training and Consulting team.
